About the Developer & Why California OH
The Developer, Gary Osterfeld, grew up just a couple miles away from the Sanctuary at River Green in Anderson Twp. Gary attended school at Guardian Angels, St. X High School, and attended college at the University of Cincinnati. He now resides at the Sanctuary at River Green. Gary has done several infill developments within the city of Cincinnati since graduating college and has made it his life’s work to give back to the City he loves.
Why in California? Gary said “because I have worked and raised a family in the area and the time, convenience, value, nature, quality of life, and importance of family have taken a front seat”
As a child, he saw I-275 built behind his house and that has further contributed to the development and convenience within the California area. Easy access right next door, without any inner-city challenges.
Through the years Gary couldn’t help noticing that Coney Island flooded occasionally, but the California area, which was developed early in the 1800s, was not flooding because of its elevated nature.
Gary said, “what an opportunity to enjoy the endless beauty of the Ohio River without the inconvenience of being downtown or on Riverside drive”. This True Community has wonderful amenities including a walking trail, easy access to the community park, a quiet and peaceful setting, and river access. Also, with the help of “Greenarama” launching the Tax Abatement 10 years ago in Columbia Tusculum, the 15-year tax abatement for the Sanctuary was a major bonus and tremendous savings for all of our homeowners. Gary stated that his oncoming desire to retire with walkability, access to entertainment, tax relief, and all-around carefree living landed him right at the Sanctuary at River Green.
He further said, “The Sanctuary is a sacred place. An escape from the everyday life, a place to be happy, healthy, and full of creativity”. He further said, “if you have interest, come on down to a California Community Council meeting and meet some of the local families that have been a staple here for generations”. He added, “You will want to move to one of the fastest, best developing neighborhoods in the city! The Sanctuary at River Green”.
